Founder Journey
Horizon Medical Imaging was born out of frustration with how Ethiopia’s medical supply chain actually operated.
Before founding Horizon, our team spent years on the operations side of biomedical logistics, coordinating shipments and installs for major international suppliers. Time and again, we watched the exact same story play out: a hospital would invest six figures in a scanner through a third-party broker, only to find themselves completely stranded when installation wrapped. Staff weren't properly trained, technical support went unanswered for weeks, and eventually, the machine sat idle while patients were referred out to competitors.
The equipment was never the problem. It was an accountability problem.
That experience shaped everything we do today. We started Horizon in 2024, as a full-service partner to eliminate the gap between the invoice clearing and actual operational success. From forging direct partnerships with original equipment manufacturers in Germany and South Korea to managing customs end-to-end and stationing our own in-region technicians our standard has always been simple: we don't walk away when the installation is finished. We stay until the capability is proven.
